In lieu of a very special weekend celebrated by this gorgeous high school grad I wanted to blog some of my absolute favs from her Senior session I did a few months ago! And I honestly don't know what else to say except that this girl totally SLAYED her session! I felt like I didn't even have to try with Maddie; she just radiated beauty, happiness, an infectious laugh that had us all laughing and not to mention her killer smile! I have known Maddie and her family for a few years now and was so excited when they contacted me asking if I would be interested in doing her Senior photos. And on top of it because they are so awesome, they made the 2 hour drive North to come to me! We met at Blumen Gardens in Sycamore which is one of my very favorite places in Illinois and if you haven't ever gone you need to go, like today. It's this tucked away little gem of a fairy tale like nursery right smack in the middle of town and it couldn't be more beautiful. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny afternoon and lots of pretty new plants they had displayed which made for a killer backdrop. Maddie I wish you the best as you embark on this new chapter in your life and hope that all things bright and beautiful come your way because you definitely deserve it. You have the world at your feet girl. Congrats to the class of 2017!
Where do I even begin....these photos will forever go down in history as some of my favorites. Not only because of the stunning scenery and location I was able to shoot in but because of the people in the photos. They say that a person doesn't have to be blood to be family and when it comes to these three that statement couldn't be more true. I met Lourdes not even a year ago and she quickly became one of my very best friends. In March I had the chance to fly out to Hawaii to stay with her and her little family for 10 days and it was the most amazing trip I have ever been on. I hadn't even met Fabian before and he welcomed me into his home and family with open arms. The amount of love and happiness I felt on this trip was well worth the 12 anxiety ridden hours flying over the ocean. :) We woke up before sunrise a few days before I was to leave so we could take their family photos. Lourdes had a place in mind she wanted to do them at and when we arrived my jaw dropped. It was just stunning. The creamy turquoise ocean roaring onto the shore, the jagged rock formations and sea salt and sand spraying through the air. They played together on the beach and ran into the water and kissed on the rocks. It was pure magic. Lourdes, thank you for giving me an experience I will never, ever forget. Fabian thank you for putting up with Lourdes and my crazy antics for a week and Callie thank you for all the goodnight kisses and truly making the soundtrack to Lilo and Stitch more meaningful than I ever thought possible. Mahola and I love you guys!
YOU GUYS. So my ovaries are basically still screaming after this gorgeous maternity session. Caitlyn looked like a gypsy woodland fairy queen the day of her shoot. She insisted on not wearing her shoes (even better) and braved the low 40 degree day, fading sun and muddy ground without hesitation. My kind of mama! I love getting dirty and trying new things and crawling through tall grass and brambles to get the perfect shot. I had been feeling discouraged lately with my work and this afternoon with Caitlyn and her soon to be little one was exactly what my soul needed. She was open to any and all of my ideas and looked like a total babe while following all of my direction. I hope you felt as gorgeous as you look lady because you truly killed it!
If I could sum up February in Illinois in photos, this set of images is exactly what I would come up with. Illinois weather in general is CRAY-usually we have close to a foot of snow around this time with negative temps, but last week we got blessed with 60 degree days! Although I am quite concerned about global warming, I will admit that we took full advantage of it this warm afternoon! (Yes this is my sister and yes she is gorgeous! She got all the good genes! hehe!)
Since we are on the topic, let's talk about weather. Clients usually get hesitant or will want to reschedule if the sun isn't out the day of their session. BUT if I am going to be completely honest with you guys, as much as I ADORE back lit, beautiful, sunset images-overcast days have a special place in my heart too. Really! There are no harsh shadows; everything is much softer. There is a certain mood to overcast days that is just my favorite and I wanted to share the beauty that can be found in the more gloomier of days too. I hope you enjoy this set as much as I enjoyed shooting it!
I was so excited when my parents asked if I would be interested in doing a photo session for them. We headed out to a local forest preserve during the late afternoon hours and it was so much fun! The lighting was so pretty with all of the golden-y orange leaves twinkling in huge piles on the ground. I thought it was going to be a bit of a challenge to get them to be playful for me in front of the camera but it was the exact opposite! It was like they were a mid 20's couple, all young and in love. So much kissing! hahaha. I am so happy that we went out that day and hope that these are images that they will treasure forever because I know I will.
